saturnia festivalSaturnia Festival

last week of August

The Saturnia Festival is Saturnia‘s largest and most popular festival after Vivamus.

A celebration of classical music, it has, over the years, accumulated a large following of locals and tourists who travel from all over Italy to be part of the festivities.

The event is organized by the cultural committee of Saturnia. Each year they get together organise a week’s worth of evening concerts from some of the most talented local and international musicians.

Classical music is beautiful in any setting, but Piazza Vittorio Veneto is particularly evocative on a summer’s evening. The entire piazza is surrounded by beautiful plants, a nymph-adorned fountain and the remains of a Roman temple.

The acts change each year, but you can expect something from Mozart and Puccini, as well as modern interpretations and pieces performed by everything from a full string orchestra to a band of clarinets.

The concerts move around the other towns in the Comune di Manciano so you can enjoy the sweet sounds in a different setting each night.

Oh and did I mention all the concerts are free?
